Mockmeat

Mockmeat is a mock band, developed with collaborator and printmaker Clancy Flick. Considering concepts of modernity, shameless self-promotion, self mockery and the power of marketing, Mockmeat attempts to realise some of the tools necessary for marketing an independent product in a competitive/creative industry.Mockmeats asks who are we selling to? What are we selling and what are the repercussions and responsibilities on that? Mockmeat like 90% of the products on today’s markets quality is questionable. Mockmeat does however possess the willingness to create something controversial, to push boundaries a little and to move forward believing that yes we can and we will make a song, a video and a slather of shameless self-promotionial products via useless ephemera, print paraphernalia, a music video and dubious recorded audio material to infiltrate and subvert the already saturated media and merchandising empire. Also called a meat substitute, mock meat, faux meat or imitation meat, approximates certain aesthetic qualities not authentic or real, but without the intention to deceive. Some useful synonyms includeimitation, artificial, man-made, manufactured, simulated, fake, false, faux, reproduction.forcefed presents MEATqTUsing digital documentation and editing programs to produce a 3 minute song and synchronised video. The video is presented as part of a mock single release. Mockmeat has been a satirical and fun way to practise editing skills for a fast turnaround, while also experimenting with the implementation of some marketing techniques. Digital movie-making is a significant part of my creative output and is also a collaborative process, containing multiple roles creatively as well as an essential understanding of the required technologies.

The mysterious and illuminating Clancie Flick is a printmaker from the Northern Rivers NSW whos main printing process is screenprinting.

  1. >>>>Habitual responses to everyday objects<<<<

Our bodies form relationships with home infrastructure. Living accessories; like handrails, fridge doors, rugs, door handles, curtains, drawers.

Learned movements. Repetative, mundane, mechanicial and eventually automatic.
    Becoming body memory; intuition.

    devoid of consciousness
except for: I know how to work this thing.

    Trained and ingrained.
    Graceful.
    Competant.
    Confident dexterity.

What happens when I refrain from interacting with everyday objects in these learned (culturally sanctioned) ways?

    Am I more awake?
    Or too cerebral?
Does it make me (or you?) uncomfortable?
    Am I doing it wrong?
    Will I break it
    or hurt myself?
Do you know what Im going to do next?
